While on tour in 1978, punk icon (and future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member) Patti Smith had minimal requirements when it came to her backstage grub: a cold cut tray, some imported cheese, and a variety of fresh white bread. Though the spread needed to be "provided in an attractive, appetizing buffet fashion." She also asked promoters to provide her road crew with a "selection of cold beer...from time of load-in throughout day." The provision of beer to working roadies, of course, was not something that survived much past the late 1970s. (2 pages)
